What are prebiotics?Updated 8 months ago

Prebiotics are the parts of our food that are not digested by human enzymes, so they're able to pass all the way through the small intestine and arrive in the colon (or large intestine) where they are digested by the enzymes that bacteria and fungi have in the microbiome. The result is increased growth and activity of beneficial gut microbes and subsequent benefits to you, the human host of these microbes. Fiber is the classic prebiotic, but resistant starch and polyphenols are also prebiotics and are slightly different. DMN provides all three types of prebiotics: fiber, resistant starch and polyphenols.
